PIC Chefmyself 2Food processors are no longer a sign of luxury, but rather desirable devices in every kitchen that make everyday life easier. But what if a food processor was connected to the Internet and, in a very easy and understandable way, guided you through the preparation of healthy meals tailored to your diet? This is not the vision of future but of the present! ChefMyself is already being developed by an international Consortium.

ChefMyself - a food processor designed specifically to meet the needs of elders is a modern device developed within the AAL program co-financed by the European Commission .

In the development process of ChefMyself the Consortium involves the participation of elders – the group for whom ChefMyself is specially designed for.

Elders have already been involved in the design process of the user interface since November 2013. In May 2014, usability and user experience tests with 30 users across the Netherlands, Italy and Portugal were set up. In these tests participants had the opportunity of interacting with the tablet and TV user interfaces. The test participants provided useful evaluations and insights about the user interface which enabled the Consortium to adjust it more effectively to elders’ needs

We have now come to the phase of testing the ChefMyself system where we will again engage the elders. As we informed you earlier, ten prototypes of the ChefMyself system have been developed. The deployment at users’ homes will start in March 2015 in the Netherlands and in Italy and trials will start at the beginning of April. During the trials, participants will be asked to cook using the ChefMyself system at least once every three days. In order to evaluate the impact of the ChefMyself solution on the daily eating habits of the participants, different phases of evaluation will be conducted at baseline, intermediate and final level.

We will keep you updated about the results of the trials!

The project Consortium has reached the stage we all have been waiting for!

We are glad to announce that 10 ChefMyself prototypes have been created!

The integration of the system has been performed with all the ChefMyself previously defined and designed modules working together after they have been completely developed and validated on their own. The software (cloud services and user interfaces) and hardware modules (cooking robot and home server) have been integrated and the tests performed to assess the functioning of the system. This process also led to new ideas on how to improve the user experience by looking at the overall picture provided by the whole integration of the system. The result of the integration effort has brought as an achievement the accomplishment of milestone M2, being the alpha prototype of the ChefMyself system already available.

These prototypes will be tested within the trials conducted in Italy and in the Netherlands. We are now in the process of delivering the prototypes to the Partners responsible for the trials: INRCA and UnieKBO.
